Warbird Thunder typically arrives the afternoon prior to rehearsal day and departs after the airshow if weather and daylight permit. Otherwise, departure is the day after the airshow. Overnight storage: Hanger storage is appreciated but not required.
MEDIA/VIP Flights:
The flight allows the participant to be exposed to formation flight in a historic WWII era SNJ/T-6 Texan aircraft. If desired, a loop and roll can be performed. The goal is an enjoyable and memorable flight; we don’t want to “overdo” anything- smooth and gentle is good.
Duration: The flight duration (wheels off the ground to wheels on the ground) is approximately 15 minutes. The entire evolution (climbing in, engine start, taxi out, takeoff, flight, return, taxi in, deplane and post flight pictures) is approximately 1 hour excluding the safety briefing.
Required Safety Briefing: A safety briefing is required. The briefing will include aircraft safety, how to enter and exit the airplane, cockpit safety, communications utilizing a headset and intercom system, canopy operation, emergency procedures and use of the parachute.
This briefing is approximately 20 minutes in duration. It is preferable to have everyone present for the safety briefing to minimize lost time.
Physical Fitness: The rider should be of average physical fitness and between 110lbs-220 lbs. Entering and exiting the aircraft requires some flexibility and balance (we have ground personnel to assist). The rider should be flexible enough to twist their torso sideways to open and close the sliding canopy and be able to follow directions.
Clothing: Long pants and closed toe shoes (no sandals or flip flops) are mandatory.
